Shining a Light on Rescue - Part 2

Rescue stories capture the heart because they reveal the power of compassion and second chances. This blog is all about highlighting different rescues and the people who save dogs from neglect, danger and loneliness.

Rescue Spotlight of the Week

Name: Crush - 6 Months Old

Rescue: Midlands Cleft rescue

Rescue Story: Crush was surrendered by his breeder to Midlands Cleft rescue at around 8 weeks old. He had a severe eye injury and also some health concerns. The rescue kept him in foster whilst he had the eye surgery he so desperately needed, and also some general health checks, before he was ready to be adopted. We had lost our boy Louis, very suddenly last December - we weren't sure when we'd be ready for another dog again but we fell for Crush as soon as we saw him and the rest is history. He has now been with us for a couple of months and he's settled in so well.

Loves: He loves his food (in particular carrots and cucumbers), he's very playful but he's also very affectionate so loves to cuddle up on the sofa with us.

Dislikes: The rain!!! He takes some convincing to go out in it.

Tips for First Time Adopters: Thoroughly research the breed you're looking to adopt, and the cost involved especially if adopting a dog with medical needs (vets, food etc.) Give them time to adjust when you first bring them home, it's likely they'll have been moved around a lot and will take some time to settle in and feel safe. It'll be worth all the hard work!
